Renamed the new “R”, La Rochelaise started its partnership with Graphisoft with the implementation of the Estimate Engine as soon as 1992. After kick offing real time production management, the printer decided to launch a JDF integration. Printing workshops actually bear high costs. It is the reason why the first JDF automation between Graphisoft and a manroland machine aimed to control and enhance productivity without any manual intervention. Information is sent from Graphisoft to the machine and vice versa.
JDF embarked and conveyed information includes customer information, job number and appropriate references; in terms of plant scheduling are also covered: expected time for make-it-ready, running and wash-up, forecast number of goods and bad sheets, work style (work & turn, work & tumble...) and paper.
The operator gets a direct access to consistent data displayed on the machine screen. Graphisoft is updated with Real Time JMF information from inter twinned printing machines: job number, component, spent time, operator, status of the process, number of good sheets, waste, etc.
JDF & JMF implementations need Graphisoft GS Prod & GS RealTime modules.
« L’imprimerie La Rochelaise » acknowledged that JDF Integration brings in clear benefits, and therefore decided to implement two extra JDF Integration Links between AGFA, KBA on the one hand and Graphisoft on the other hand. President Pascal Sabourin’s objective is crystal clear: « We have the intention to shorten the whole production cycle and want to do it without being obliged to rekey any data ».
